Love God and Love Your Neighbor as Yourself
Culture is loosely defined as the way of life of a particular people as shown in their behavior, customs, traditions, art, food, language, values and shared attitudes towards each other. Although cultures of all kinds exist all over the world, there is one universal culture that that transcends them all – The Culture of Christ.
The Culture of Christ uses the Great Commandments given by Jesus in Matthew 22:35-40, Mark 12:28-31 and Luke 10:25-28 to love God with all your heart, soul and mind and to love your neighbor as ourselves. Our goal is to provide content that engages Christian thinking to help transform our minds, bodies and spirits with God’s will, which is to foster and spread His love while walking circumspectly in the world. It is a place for believers to come for original and curated content from the best and brightest of Christian content creators.
The Culture of Christ is a platform that is designed to bring the love of Christ to an increasingly polarized world. It is a place for believers to come to for curated content from the best and brightest of Christian content creators. So much of media and entertainment is dominated by themes that run counter to our beliefs and actively contribute to the darkness and division that we see in the world. This content and the active engagement of the Body of Christ will help Christians to align body, soul and spirit with God’s will so that we can effectively foster and spread God’s love in the world by loving our neighbors as ourselves.
About the Founders
Andre Kimo Stone Guess has spent the past 25 years of his career in the service of African American Culture. He was CFO and then Executive Producer for Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York and CEO of the August Wilson Center for African American Culture in Pittsburgh. He currently operates a consulting and artist management firm with his wife Cheryl.
Andre is also a writer and cultural critic and has written several pieces and created content over the years mostly centered around African American Culture. He began writing for ESPN’s The Undefeated a few year ago. The Undefeated is a blog that is focused on content that explores the intersection of Sports, Race and Culture.
Shortly after having a few pieces published by The Undefeated, one of Andre’s dear Brothers in Christ prophesied that God was calling him to move beyond his own culture. That friend told Andre that God wanted him to use the gifts that God had given to him in the service of the Culture of Christ.
This was a true revelation to Andre, so he heeded the prophetic call and began to pray for clarity. He received that clarity. God wanted him to now do for the Culture of Christ what he had previously been attempting to do for African American Culture and that was to help the world to value, appreciate and hopefully gravitate to that Culture by exposing them to the best of it.
Now that he had the clarity that he prayed for and began to plan for the site. Since that time, God has placed several key people in his life who feel the same call, one of them was his editor at The Undefeated, John X. Miller.
John X. Miller is a licensed minister as well as the senior editor for commentary and HBCUs for The Undefeated.
He is a veteran journalist of more than four decades, having been a top editor at several newspapers including the Detroit Free Press, USA Today, the Charlotte Observer, the Myrtle Beach Sun News, and his hometown newspaper, the Winston-Salem Journal where he was managing editor, before joining The Undefeated.
One unique aspect of his decades-long career is that he was a founding staff member of USA Today in 1982 and at The Undefeated in 2016.
He was first licensed to preach in 2013 at Morning Star First Baptist Church in Hickory, N.C. He is now on the ministerial staff of Heritage Fellowship Church in Reston, Va.
He says his calling comes from the Book of Jeremiah 1:7: “Do not say, ‘I am only a boy’; for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and you shall speak whatever I command you.”
He is a HistoryMaker, serves currently as board chair for the Maynard Institute for Journalism Education, is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., and is a 1977 graduate of Washington and Lee University.
At a providential meeting in Washington, DC, John and Andre came on one accord and decided to partner to bring the platform to the world
